- NSE 2025
Promoted by AEFI with the title “Where is innovation created today and how it is communicated: the contribution of Italian trade fairs” the meeting was held yesterday at the Sala Parlamentino of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, as part of the exhibition “Exhibiting innovation: the Made in Italy hub trade fairs”. The focus being the strategic importance of exhibition venues as key places to promote innovation, internationalization and dialogue between businesses, the academic world and institutions.
Among the events featured at the exhibition (at MIMIT until July 14), NSE – New Space Economy, the Fiera Roma event dedicated to the space industry and technology, scheduled for December 10 to 12, 2025 stands out. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), one of the traditional participants of NSE animates the MIMIT stand with two high-tech systems: HERMES, a stratospheric platform equipped with an autonomous glider for the transport and return of scientific data and samples, and Cosmic Ray Cube, a portable muon detector for monitoring volcanoes.
“Exhibitions are places of concrete innovation: not just showcases, but real platforms for exchange, where businesses, the academic world and institutions meet to generate new solutions and transform knowledge into useful applications for society and the economy. In this sense, NSE represents a perfectly fitting example: an event that, since its inception, has fostered dialogue between the space industry, research and institutions, as a strategic tool for competitiveness and for the international projection of our country” stated Fabio Casasoli, CEO of Fiera Roma.
Augusto Cramarossa, Head of the ASI’s (the Italian Space Agency) Strategic Coordination Office, also spoke, underlining the crucial importance of space economy and its implications: «The space sector is currently at the forefront of innovation and is worth approximately 500 billion dollars globally (equal to 0.5% of global GDP), and over 2.5 billion dollars in Italy (approximately 0.09% of national GDP). In our country, there are about 400 companies, 15 technological clusters and 3 industrial associations dedicated to space. The growth prospects are significant in strategic areas where research, scientific discovery and knowledge development revert concrete implications on our everyday life. I thank Fiera Roma for the attention and commitment in promoting the space sector through NSE, an event that ASI has supported since the first edition».
The event “Exhibiting innovation: the hub fairs of Made in Italy” can be visited at the MIMIT headquarters until July 30 (the NSE corner until the 14th). Through a multimedia and immersive path, it shows how Italian fairs represent real engines of innovation and scientific research, at the service of the development and competitiveness of the Italian (and international) industry and social systems. The 2025 edition of NSE – New Space Economy will be held at Fiera Roma from December 10 to 12 as an opportunity to explore state-of-art applications and the latest scenarios of the space economy.
